“Loops in Time & Space” – Mojé Assefjah & Koloman Wagner

In this year’s festival exhibition, “Loops in Time & Space,” at the Galeriehaus on Ignaz-Rieder-Kai, we present a dialogue between the wooden sculptures of Koloman Wagner and the color-intensive paintings of Mojé Assefjah.

In his organic wooden sculptures, Koloman Wagner intuitively combines art and science. Music serves as a central source of inspiration, as does physics, in particular the concept of spacetime. His stacked wooden sculptures are based on musical structures and propose a spatial understanding of time, while the flexibility of movements and brushstrokes in Assefjah’s paintings is reminiscent of Persian calligraphy. Through the dialectic of opacity and transparency, proximity and distance, spatiality emerges, creating depth layer by layer.
